Small Company or Organization

2023 Winner

Big Bear Wine & Liquor - Pueblo, CO

Big Bear Wine & Liquor is a family-owned business in Pueblo, CO that is passionate about their community. In 2023, they donated over $40,000 to local non-profits through events and independent initiatives such as a charity golf tournament.

Large Company or Organization

2021 Winner

Thrivent - Colorado Springs, CO

Beginning in 2005, Thrivent entered into a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity International in support of affordable housing throughout the United States. Up until the end of calendar year 2020, Thrivent and its members have contributed more than $267 million and more than 6.1 million volunteer hours to Habitat affiliates throughout the nation.

Thrivent since the national partnership was launched, has supported Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity (PPHFH) in El Paso County, Colorado in support of providing decent, safe, and affordable housing. This partnership still exists today, 16-years since its launch.

Thrivent’s generosity and care for low-income families throughout El Paso County, has meant that it has been the lead sponsor for 15 new home builds, committing more than 50% of the cost to build a home (including land). By the nature of new home construction, nearly each year since Thrivent's first sponsorship the cost of building has risen on the previous year. This however, has not deterred Thrivent from providing a gift to PPHFH that is at least 50% to build, with year upon year the donation increasing to match the cost of home building.

The local Thrivent office team commits time to help build houses, bring lunch for volunteers, and reach out to others to help lift up families. Thrivent also encourages local churches, faith organizations, and companies to give to these projects by donating funds and/or in-kind services or materials and giving their time to volunteer with PPHFH to work side by side with future homeowners— collectively coming together to build affordable housing for local families.
