The AFP Southern Colorado Chapter Board of Directors formally adopted the following definition and resolution at its March 24, 2021 meeting:
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Southern Colorado Chapter defines IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access) as an ongoing commitment to both reflect, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our membership and the communities we serve. The word diversity encompasses aspects of identity including race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, physical and mental ability, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, religion, veteran status, and other member-identified markers of identity, and is not limited to these terms.
- AFP Southern Colorado strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, inviting as many unique perspectives and identities as possible to better inform our work and be representative of our Southern Colorado community.
- AFP Southern Colorado will work to make all of its communications and programming accessible to all persons with equitable safeguards in place to address unique needs within our members and community.
- AFP Southern Colorado intends to serve as the preeminent provider of resources related to IDEA for the Southern Colorado fundraising community.
AFP Southern Colorado Chapter IDEA Board Resolution
Intended to fulfill the following goal: The Chapter Board passed or reaffirmed a Board resolution that defines the chapter’s commitment to IDEA and also defined IDEA in fundraising for the community that their chapter serves. The resolution is to be reviewed every year and the definition of IDEA is used in chapter materials.
WHEREAS the mission of AFP Global is to empower individuals and organizations to practice ethical fundraising through professional education, networking, research and advocacy; and
WHEREAS AFP Southern Colorado is committed to meeting the needs of its members and add value as a community collaborator; and,
WHEREAS AFP Southern Colorado Chapter’s IDEA Committee exists to create a board and membership that reflects and celebrates the diversity of the Southern Colorado community, and to equitably serve its diverse membership; and,
WHEREAS AFP Southern Colorado defines diversity as aspects of identity including race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, physical and mental ability, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, religion, veteran status, and other member-identified markers of identity; and
WHEREAS AFP Southern Colorado strives to create accessible communications and programming that are inclusive and welcoming to all and serve as a hub for IDEA-related resources for the Southern Colorado fundraising community.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT AFP Southern Colorado is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access as ongoing proactive processes and commitments in its governance, committees, membership, policies, programs, communications, and activities.
